Doris Bachelor, 97, died May 3, 2014 at Minneola District Hospital. She was born July 25, 1916 in Bucklin to B.R. and Edith S. (Warner) Bolinger.
Doris graduated from Bucklin High School in 1933 and Kansas State Teacher's
College, Emporia, in 1937. She taught school for 2 years and then worked for the Farm Security Administration at Belleville. Doris and Fred Bachelor were married April 27, 1941 and moved to Bucklin in 1944. After Fred's death on August 20, 1959, she joined her father and brother in the operation of the Bolinger Agency until she retired in 1977. Doris was a member of the United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the BPW and Order of the Eastern Star, all of Bucklin. She had served on the Bucklin Library Board.
She is survived by her son, David Bachelor and wife, Letty of Bucklin and daughter, Nancy Dickson and husband, Dale of Dodge City; grandchildren: Tad Estes and wife Barbara , Las Vegas NV, Brad Estes and wife Mishaun of Greensburg, Josh Dickson and wife Kayla of Las Vegas NV, Lindsay Stamper and husband, Mark of Olathe, Pat Bachelor and wife Julie of Lenexa, Jud Bachelor and wife Amber of Overland Park, and LynAnn Bowman and husband, Craig of Bucklin; and 17 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Donald Bolinger.
Funeral Services are Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Bucklin United
Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Rick Jones. Visitation will be 1 P.M. to
7 P.M. Tuesday, May 6 at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin. Burial will be at Bucklin
Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Bucklin United Methodist Church of
Bucklin Public Library c/o Minnis Mortuary, Box 516, Bucklin KS 67834.
