Margaret Elizabeth Redetzke Obituary
Cimarron - Margaret Elizabeth Redetzke, 68, died August 10, 2018 at her home in Cimarron. She was born on November 27, 1949 in Syracuse, the daughter of Murlin and Doris (Dewey) Carter.
Maggie spent her childhood in Syracuse. She graduated from Syracuse High School in 1967. Maggie continued her education starting at Cottey College in the nursing program from 1967-1968. She then went on to complete her nursing degree at Fort Hays State University where she earned a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing in 1971. Maggie worked as a nursing instructor for one year at Fort Hays and then as an instructor at Garden City Community College. She later worked for St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City in the NICU and obstetrics unit. Later, she went to work part time at the Cimarron Clinic.
Maggie married Marlyn Anthony Redetzke on July 24, 1971. He preceded her in death on August 21, 2017. Maggie enjoyed spending summers in Colorado with her family at the cabin her father built. She loved to fish and was a fantastic cook. Playing board games with her grandchildren was a favorite pastime as well as playing Mexican train dominoes with her friends.
Maggie attended St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Ingalls. She was an active member of the PEO, receiving her Golden Girl pin this year for being a 50 year member. Maggie was also an active community supporter for the City of Cimarron.
Maggie is survived by three sons, Justin Redetzke of Dubai, U.A.E., Brandon Redetzke of Kansas City, Missouri, and Bryan Redetzke of Lantana, Florida; and five grandchildren, Dees, Stone, Kamber, Grey, and Annalauren Redetzke. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marlyn, and two brothers, Lynn and Murray "Bud" Carter.
Vigil Service will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Ingalls on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at the church on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Warren Stecklein presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from noon to 5:00 PM on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Cimarron. The casket will remain closed. Memorials are suggested to Gray County EMS, The Shepherd's Center, or the Cimarron Chapter of PEO in care of the funeral home.
