DODGE CITY - Ron D. Friess, 69, died Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at his home in Dodge City.
He was born April 20, 1949 at Dodge City, the son of Elmer N. and Ella Mae (Bolmer) Friess. He was a lifetime Dodge City resident, a graduate of St. Mary High School, Dodge City and received his Associates Degree from Dodge City Community College. He served in the Army National Guard from 1969 to 1975. He worked for Western Beverage, Southwest Distributing and Right Coop.
He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City.
On April 11, 1970 he married Linda Bradfield at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City.
Survivors include: his wife of 48 years, Linda, Dodge City; his son, Ronnie Friess, Dodge City; his daughter, Katie Ross and husband Tyler, Dodge City; his father, Elmer, Easton, Pennsylvania; 3 brothers, Joe Friess, Easton, Larry Friess and wife Linda, Spearville and Richard Friess and wife Brenda, Bucklin; his sister, Linda Meyers and husband Don, Eudora, Kansas; and 5 grandchildren, Ella, Lilly, Eva, AJ and Adam.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Memorial service will be 10:00 am Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City with Fr. Robert Schremmer officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Scroggins Mausoleum at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City with full military honors by Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714 and Military Honors for the State of Kansas. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
