Jetmore - Mildred Evelyn Law, 98, was born May 20, 1920 in Collyer, Kansas to Harold and Adela See Pittaway. Mildred began grade school in Ransom, KS. Her family later moved to Jetmore where Mildred attended grade school and high school. Mildred married George A. Law on February 25, 1937 in Dodge City, KS. Together they had three children, Evelyn, Dorothy, and David. During their marriage, George and his brothers owned a custom harvesting business. Mildred traveled with the custom harvest crew and prepared many meals. They traveled to Oklahoma, Nebraska, Colorado, and Montana during the summertime. George passed away on January 5, 1962. Mildred was a faithful member of the Methodist Church, which she loved and served with devotion throughout her lifetime. Mildred later moved to Hutchinson where she attended business school. After completing business school, she worked as a bookkeeper at Security Elevators. Mildred married Floyd A. Law on May 7, 1967 in Dodge City, KS. They moved to Hanston, KS. Mildred worked at Hanston State Bank until she retired in 1985. Floyd passed away on July 20, 1990. Mildred later moved to Hutchinson, KS. She enjoyed acting at The Flag Theatre, where she had lead roles in "Driving Miss Daisy", "The Cemetery Club", and "The Beverly Hillbillies". Mildred loved to travel. Throughout her lifetime, she toured the world. She later moved back to Jetmore. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. She volunteered at the nursing home. She enjoyed playing cards at the senior citizen center and continued to be involved in the Methodist Church.
Mildred passed away September 7, 2018 in Jetmore, KS with family by her side.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Adela Pittaway; husbands, George Law and Floyd Law; brother, Harold Edwin Pittaway; sisters, Lynn Wilson, Alice Bamberger, Gladys Church; daughters, Jo Ann Hendrickson, June Beall; son-in-law, Arlyn (Buzz) Bradford and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mildred is survived by her children, Evelyn (Don) Bradford, Dorothy Bradford, David (Juanita) Law, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Jetmore, with Pastor Cyd Stein presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
