Cesaire Marie Chaumont, 99, a native of Vacherie and resident of Donaldsonville, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and three of her siblings. She still managed to live on her own and knew the birthday, anniversary, and age of just about everyone. She lived through two World Wars, the Great Depression, and all the things we learned about in History, she was there. She was one of ten siblings, and until she died five of them were living very active lives. She is survived by her two daughters; Bonnie Bourgeois and husband, Charles and Mona Woods and husband Eugene "Frog"; three sisters, Mildred Simon, Clara Waguespack, and Helen Torres; one brother, Herman "Tip" Torres; five grandchildren, Amy Taylor and husband, Lee, Beth Bourgeois, Jess Bourgeois and wife, Erin, Katie Thibodeaux, Kristie Shaheen and husband, Mat; 13 great grandchildren, Austin and Andrew Thibodeaux, Karsyn, Kamryn, and Kamille Shaheen, Anna, Owen, Charles, Emily, Sarah, Taylor, Hayes Bourgeois, and Wes Williams.
Preceded in death by her husband, Cephas Chaumont; parents, Otis Torres and Helan Steib Torres; three brothers, Roy, Nick, and Roland Torres; two sisters, Hilda Lasseigne and Pearl Levet.
Pallbearers were Eugene Woods, Austin Thibodaux, Mat Shaheen, Charles Bourgeois, Jess Bourgeois, and Lee Taylor.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Herman "Tip" Torres, Bob Simon, Carroll "Caro" Richard, and Michael Loland.
The family would like to thank the staff of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital Emergency Room and the 5th floor Neurology Staff for the wonderful care she received.
