Gemberling. Shirley
Shirley Ann Gemberling, 88, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at Ministry Door County Medical Center on March 28, 2014. She was born June 16, 1925, in Jackson, MI to Frank and Elsie (Dalroot) Rickson. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Michigan. Shirley maintained her nursing license throughout her life and volunteered as a nurse in numerous capacities.
On June 26, 1949, she married George D. Gemberling in Jackson, MI. She and her husband raised their family in Alliance, Ohio and retired to Door County in 1983. Shirley was active in the Glidden Drive Association, Birch Creek Music Center, the hospital auxiliary and several other community organizations. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all.
Survivors include her husband, George; three children, Gary (Cathy) Gemberling, Hudson, Ohio; Greg (Laurie) Gemberling, Alliance, Ohio; Gretchen Ruth, Sturgeon Bay; daughter-in-law, Patricia Gemberling, Mechanicsburg, PA; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, George.
The Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staffs of Ministry Medical Center, Cardinal Ridge, and Unity Hospice for the wonderful care and support.

We are very saddened by the news of her passing. She was one of my mom's best friends. They enjoyed their times in Florida, parties on the beach and drive and helped each other through thick and thin. She was a wonderful friend to my family also.
