Christeson, Howard Henry

Howard Henry Christeson, beloved husband and best friend to Patricia Christeson (Ryden) passed away in Fort Meyers, FL, on Saturday, March 9, after an extended illness, but true to form he was optimistic and full of humor to the end. Chris, to all who knew him, was loved, respected, lived his life in an exemplary fashion and was an inspiration to many. Born September 19, 1926, in Wisconsin, to Clifford and Marie (Perterson) Christeson. He attended Western Michigan and the University of Wisconsin graduating with a degree in Economics thru the U.S. Navy V12 program. His education and dedication carried him to positions with General Motors and as a Vice President of the National Bank of Detroit. Finding his forte in finance, Chris became a Managing Director with A. G. Becker/Investment Banking and later as a Managing Director with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets retiring in 1990. Chris and Patti were longtime residents of Ephraim, WI, and resided at the historical Anderson House, where they were proprietors of the Anderson House Workbench Shop.

Chris gave his time and talents to many charitable organizations with particular interest in the Mooring Country Club, Naples, FL serving as President 2009-2010 and as a Director; The Ephraim Foundation, Ephraim, WI: President, Treasurer and Director; the Ephraim Foundation Heritage Fund: Vice Pres., and Director; Door Community Auditorium, Director; Door County Memorial Hospital Foundation: Treasurer, Director and Chairman of the Finance Committee.; PGA Associates: Director and member of the Executive Committee; Fourth Presbyterian Church, Chicago, IL: Trustee, Elder and Chairman of Joint Finance Committee. His business and investment acumen were well noted and his counsel often sought. He enjoyed golf, boating, x-country skiing, travel, reading, classical music, stamp collecting and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. And he would want us all to say "GO PACK GO!"

Predeceased by his parents, beloved daughter, Monica and beautiful granddaughter Corrie, Chris is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Patricia, brother, John Christeson and wife, Janet, and sister, Elaine Grossman, brother-in-law, David Ryden and his wife, Grayce, daughters, Karen and son-in-law, Craig Zaspel; Sarah and son-in-law, Thomas P. Hodgson; Lynn and son-in-law, John R. Braddy; sons, Kevin and daughter-in-law, Vicky; Steven and daughter-in-law, Nelle and son, David; grandchildren Stephanie, Jason, Naomi, Colton, Jacob, Joy, Tommy, Lori, Matthew, Michelle, April and three generations of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews with particular mention of niece, Kristin Small and her husband, Andrew and their children and nephew, Brett Ryden and his wife Holly and their children.

Dearly loved, his warmth, humor and hugs will be greatly missed. A celebration of Chris's life is planned for June 22, 2013, at Alexander's of Door County, Fish Creek, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Ephraim Historical Foundation, PO Box 165, Ephraim, Wi 54211-0165.
