Kelly, Thomas J.
Thomas J. Kelly, 75, Fish Creek, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 27. Thomas was born Sept. 11, 1938, in Chicago, Ill. He is the only child of Frank Kelly and Lillian Simonsen. He graduated from high school in Antioch, Illinois. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps
from 1956 to 1958. He married Christine Pinkham in 1959. Thomas worked as a Metallurgist from 1958 to 1965 for the Kleinschmidt Division in Deerfield, Ill. Following this, he worked for the Bourns/CAI Corp. developing optical equipment used by the United States government. Thomas and Christine operated a Supper Club in Trevor, Wis., from 1971 to 1975, where he also served on the Trevor fire department. They then opened a restaurant in Fish Creek in 1976, which they operated for 21 years. During this time, Thomas served as clerk for the town of Gibraltar town board, as well as a firefighter for the town of Gibraltar. He served the department as Assistant Fire Chief and then Fire Chief until 1995. After the business Thomas worked as a painter and carpenter for the following 10 years. Thomas was a family man and avid outdoorsman. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Christine and his parents. He is survived by his sons, Mike, Fish Creek, Wis.; Francis, Syracuse, Utah; daughter Lisa, Needles, Calif.; Kevin, Baileys Harbor, Wis.; and son, Casey, Muskegon, Mich.; as well as grandchildren, Shane, Kyle, Tiffanny, Amber, and Logan and one great-grandchild, Merik.
A memorial service is being planned for the spring of 2014 with burial in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery.
A date for the memorial will be available in the near future.
