Greisen, Marie
Marie Anne Greisen, 90, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Saturday evening, June 8, 2013, at Ministry Door County Medical Center - Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born on November 23, 1922, in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Schartner) Haberli. Following the untimely death of her mother, Marie was raised by her uncle and aunt, Anton and Elizabeth (Hunsader) Haberli. She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1941. On October 26, 1946, she married Arnold Albert Greisen in Sturgeon Bay. Arnie preceded her in death on August 5, 2006.
Marie was employed at Jolins Drugstore for eight years, at Draeb Jewelers for 26 years, and later at Greisen Appliances in sales for 15 years. She spent more than 60 years bowling in Door County as a member of the Bowling Association, including twenty years bowling in national bowling tournaments, during which time she made many dear friends who were there for her throughout her life. Her greatest love, though, was watching her grandsons compete in sports. She also enjoyed spending time with the family dogs, Lady, Mugsy, Ollie and Amos.
Marie will be dearly missed by her son, Ron (Mary) Greisen of Sturgeon Bay; two grandsons, Chris (Shannon) Greisen of Green Bay and Nick (Caroline) Greisen of Evanston, IL; foster granddaughter, Nova (Alex) Dubovik of Utah; eight grandchildren, Michaela, Hannah, Patrick, Andrew, Clare, Brandon, Nicholas and Hailee; and one sister, Dorothy Allen of Janesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Rosemary Kuehn; and brother, Edward Haberli.
