Ostrand, Russ (RVO)

Russ (RVO) Ostrand, 64, Algoma, passed away September 1, 2012 at a local hospital. He was born May 10, 1943 in Sturgeon Bay to Russell and Helen (Sawyer) Ostrand.

He married Carol Wautlet on December 17, 1993 in Kewaunee.

Russell served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army and then worked for Bay Shipbuilding Corp. for 35 years. He was president of the Algoma Hunting and Fishing Club, a member of the AmVets and VFW. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool and darts, family gatherings, watching westerns on TV, making pies, and pig roasting. He owned RVO Roast and Proast Bar.

He is survived by his wife Carol of 18 years; children Camranh (Joe) Burmeister, Algoma, Russell Jr. (friend Tina), Green Bay; step-grandchildren Brian, Melissa, Mandy; sisters and brothers, Dawn Naujock, Chrystal Jeurink (special friend Mark), Bonita Ostrand, Lynnette LeFevre, Leon Ostrand (special friend CJ), Dale (Virgean) Ostrand, Kevin (Caryn) Ostrand; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert (Colleen) Wautlet, Arnold (Marilyn) Wierer, Darlene Kaminski; many nieces and nephews; one special great nephew, Chance; many friends and special friends, Tom (Susie) Simon and Bob Rader .

He was preceded in death by a son Rodney, infant brothers, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law.

Friends may call at Wiesner and Massart Funeral Home 1617 Flora Ave, Algoma, from 4-8 pm Wednesday, September 5th, and also Thursday at the funeral home from 11:30 until 1:30. Military service, Wednesday, September 5th at 6 pm. Funeral 1:30pm Thursday at the funeral home with full military rights to follow. Burial will follow at church cemetery.
