Bernice A. Allie, 97, of Sturgeon Bay, was called Home on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Ministry-Door County Medical Center.

She was born December 7, 1916, in the town of Forestville, the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Branning) Matcek. On October 18, 1941, she married Clayton Joseph Allie at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1979. Bernice worked for many years as a CNA for the Dorchester Nursing Home.

Bernice was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and solving crossword puzzles. Grandma was a selfless caregiver to her family whenever needed.

She will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Sandy Lawrie, Kristine (John) Berns both of Sturgeon Bay; five grandchildren, Debbie (Jon) Burk of Sturgeon Bay, William II (and his fiancé, Michelle Rider) Lawrie of Phoenix, AZ, Randy (Diana) Lawrie of Woodbury, MN, Brian Berns of Sturgeon Bay, Amy (Noal) Miles of Verona, WI; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Burk, Elsa and Ada Miles, Michael Olson; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Allie, LaVerne Klimek, both of Sturgeon Bay; brother-in-law, Henry Cinabro of Blue Island, IL.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Clara Matcek; husband, Clayton Allie; sister, Mildred McNally; and son-in-law, Bill Lawrie.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Friday afternoon, May 23, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Anthony Birdsall and Fr. Robert Stegmann concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.

Memorials may be made in her memory for the Sunshine House.
