Duane D. Lawrence, 80, of Sturgeon Bay, died early Wednesday morning, May 14, 2014, at Ministry-Door County Medical Center.
He was born May 18, 1933, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Vann and Elsie (Van Bramer) Lawrence. Duane worked for 33 years at Peterson Builders as the lead man in the fiberglass department. On December 31, 1961, he married Dorothy (Dottie) Grocki in Waukegan, IL.
He enjoyed spending time and volunteering at the Senior Center and Golden Living Center/Dorchester.
Survivors include his niece, Leslie (Mike) Maciejewski of Greenfield; daughter, Claudia; five grandchildren; great-nephews, Jon and Matthew Maciejewski; local cousin, Pete Van Bramer of Sturgeon Bay; the Wilz family cousins; niece, Nancy (Dennis) Hammond of Cumming GA; Louise Reynolds his "Georgia Peach" and dear friends, Howard and Teresa Phillips of Sturgeon Bay.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dottie; her son, Tommy; sister, Doris; brother, Donald; one infant brother; and two infant sisters.

Duane touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
A funeral service was held at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. Deacon Ray Ambrosius officiated. Friends called from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Entombment was made at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.
Memorials may be given in Duane's memory to the Senior Center of Door County.
