Ellefson, Barbara Ann (Bundy)

Barbara Ann (Bundy) Ellefson left this life peacefully, with beauty, humor, and grace at the home of her daughter, surrounded by the love of family on June 2, 2014.

She was born in Berwyn, IL, to Wilfred and Margaret (Boston) Bundy on April 27, 1928. Barbara took pride in being her little sister, Jane's, protector and best friend her whole life.

She met her husband, Eldred Ellefson, at Happy Hank's Dude Ranch where they started their romance of many years. After living in the Chicago, IL, area for several years, Barb and Eldred moved their family to Washington Island where they created a fun, happy, and unique Island life.

Barbra will be remembered for her sense of humor, beautiful stitcheries, and her ability to sew anything. She was an active member of Washington Island Women's Club and donated her works of art to many local organizations for fundraisers. Barbara's best memories are of gatherings with family and parties with her friends, many of which were hosted by her. She adored her family and friends with her whole heart.

Barbara is survived by her son, Steven Ellefson of Washington Island; daughter, Melanie (Tom) Bauer of Sturgeon Bay; four grandchildren, Jesse and Hans Koyen, and Brandon and Kayla Ellefson; three great-grandchildren; niece, Susan; nephews, Scott, Mark, David, and Tommy, whom she loved as her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldred; and sister, Jane.

Barbara's life and memory will be celebrated with joy by many extended family members and friends. A private celebration of Barbara's life and interment will take place on her beloved Washington Island at a later date.
