Kohn, Allen

Allen Robert Kohn, 74, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at his home on June 10, 2014. He was born on July 31, 1939, in Oak Park, IL to Edward and Patricia (Watson) Kohn. On December 23, 1961, he married Bonnie Lou Knapp in Chicago, IL.

Al was a 33rd degree Mason, received the Meritorious Service Award, and was past Thrice Potent Master of the Chicago Valley Scottish Rite. He was a life time member of Medinah Temple in Chicago, and an associate member of Beja Shrine in Green Bay. He was also past president and current secretary of the Peninsula Shrine Club.

Al was a Past Master of Advance Lodge #1039 in Illinois, life member of Elgin Lodge #117 in Illinois, and dual member of Henry S. Baird Lodge #174 of Sturgeon Bay. Al worked in the insurance industry for many years and retired to Door County in 1999.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sheryl (Douglas) Sawyers, Elgin, IL; Lisa (Kevin) Jauch, Hoffman Estates, IL; four grandchildren, Andrew, Jeffrey, Allison, and Chase; one brother, Richard (Linda) Kohn, Sturgeon Bay; one brother-in-law, Kenneth (Cindy) Knapp, Carol Stream, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. June 15, 2014, at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Michael Zolnosky. A Masonic service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
