With faith in the Resurrection of Jesus, we offer our prayers for Reverend David D. Kasperek, who died on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at the age of 76 after many years of facing the challenges of cancer.

Father Kasperek was born on July 21, 1937, in Appleton, WI, to Stanley and Margaret (Champeau) Kasperek. He attended the Pontifical College Josephinum in Worthington, OH, where he earned degrees in philosophy and theology. He later did graduate work at Fordham University, earning an M.A. in Religious Education. Father was ordained a priest on May 25, 1963.

Father Dave's assignments included Assistant Pastor at St. Rose Parish, Clintonville and at St. Philip the Apostle Parish, Green Bay, Religion Instructor at St. Joseph Academy, Director of Religious Education for the Diocese of Green Bay where he co-authored "The Green Bay Plan" and travelled throughout the diocese giving workshops on Vatican II's approach toward renewal in the church. In 1975, he became Co-Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Green Bay. In 1982, he was named Pastor of SS. Edward and Isidore Parish, Flintville, where he served faithfully for 30 years until his retirement on September 1, 2012.

He is survived by his closest friends, Sheila DeLuca, Dick and Sara Reichert, and Father Paul Demuth; his sisters-in-law, Dee (Jim) Kasperek, Appleton, and Nay (Ken) Kasperek, Neenah; his nieces, Cheryl Van Toll and Theresa (Jim) Van Rooy; and nephews Jeff (Laura) Kasperek, Mike (Connie) Kasperek, and Kevin (Lisa) Kasperek, all of Appleton.

Father Dave was preceded in death by his parents Stan and Marge; his brothers, Kenneth and James; and nephew, Louie Van Toll.

Reception of the Body will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at SS. Edward and Isidore Catholic Church, 3667 Flintville Road, Green Bay (Flintville). Visitation will follow until 7 p.m. when a Closing Prayer Service will be held. Friends may also call from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Lakewood. Blaney Funeral Home, Green Bay is handling the funeral arrangements.
