Birringer, Agnes A.

Agnes A. Birringer, age 92, a Manitowoc resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.

She was born on November 15, 1921 in the town of Cato, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Louis and Frances (Augustine) Schambureck. On May 29, 1940 she married Erwin J. Birringer at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2004. Agnes enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing cards, fishing and traveling. She also helped restore and maintain the old St. Mary Church Cemetery in Manitowoc Rapids. Agnes was a member of Clarks Lake Advancement Association, Manitowoc Senior Citizens, AARP, and an active member of the V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659 Auxiliary in which she held different offices. Agnes was also a member of the Manitowoc Genealogical Society and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno.

Survivors include two daughters: Carol Morrow and Charlotte Mahnke, both of Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-in-law: Chuck & Prudy Birringer, Sturgeon Bay, Clyde & Lindy Birringer, McFarland; nine grandchildren: Lori & Scott Newberg, Mark & Laura Morrow, Mike Morrow, Tim & Lisa Temby, Julie & Wayne Randolph, Ryan Birringer, Sara Morley, Kristi Mahnke, Nicole & David Solheim; 14 great grandchildren: Shannon, Kyle & Brett Newberg, Miranda (Zachary) Larson, Elizabeth & Charlie Randolph, Kristin & Megan Temby, Tatiana & Oriana Morley, Katana Melendez, Mariah Christiansen, Ava Mahnke; one great great grandchild: Cole Larson; and two sisters: Rita Junk and Helen Lemberger, both of Manitowoc. She was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law: William Morrow and Richard Mahnke; and four sisters and six brothers-in-law: Esther & Peter Braun, Marie & Leonard Hermann, Gertrude & Sylvester Birringer, Beatrice Schambureck, Alphonse Lemberger, Philip Junk, Lawrence Franz; and one brother and sister-in-law: Joe & Devota Schambureck.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. A Memorial Service was held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Memorial Service was the Rev. William Brunner. Burial of Agnes's cremated remains at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth, will occur at a later date.
