Rose Birmingham

On the morning of July 15, 2014, Rose passed away peacefully of natural causes. Rose was being comforted by family members at the time of her passing while at the Golden Living Center-Dorchester. Rose was born on November 3, 1929, to William and Helen Steinberg. Rose lived her 84 years in Sturgeon Bay and on February 20, 1954, she married Eugene "Buck" Birmingham.

Rose is survived by her only son, Thad and his wife Kathy (Gerl) Birmingham, Sturgeon Bay; granddaughters, Meredith, of Oshkosh, WI; Stephanie, of Chicago, IL; sister, Janet (Jerry) Slivinski, of Mercer, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William; and the love of her life, Eugene.

In her younger years, Rose was an avid softball player, bowler, and golfer. Rose and Buck were season ticket holders for the Green Bay Packers and attended the infamous "Ice Bowl" during the Lombardi era. Rose and Buck enjoyed traveling the world together including visits to Canada, Alaska, Europe, and Australia. Rose will be remembered for her independence and strong will that will be carried on by her family.

Friends are invited to join her family for a memorial service at Hope United Church of Christ on Friday, July 18, 2014. Friends may call from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the church with the memorial service starting at 6:30 p.m. in honor of her life. At Rose's request, she will be cremated and buried at Bayside Cemetery. Rose will be remembered for her determination, independence, and strong will that brought her through her life journey.
