Joe was born September 19, 1921, in Emporia, KS, the son of Joseph Fredrick and Elizabeth Winona (Seymour) Peck. He attended school at Boys Tech in Milwaukee. Upon his graduation in 1939, Joe went to work for A.O. Smith Water Products Company in Milwaukee. He served his country with the United Army Air Corps until 1945. Joe continued working for A.O. Smith after serving. From the late 1960s to 1973, Joe was employed with Kitt Peak National Observatory outside of Tuscon, AZ, where he developed camera mounts. He worked for Motorola in Phoenix, AZ, for over 11 years, designing and constructing circuit boards to be able to float through magnetic fields. Joe holds several design patents with Motorola. He was a design engineer by occupation, primarily working in the machine design industry. Joe even worked out of his basement, designing dies to bend steel. He retired in 1985.

Joe was united in marriage to Lorraine Norma Jung at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Milwaukee on July 19, 1947. They were blessed with 67 years of marriage.

He was an accomplished flutist and piccoloist and a member of the Peninsula Symphonic Band in Door County. Joe enjoyed flying - piloting his Cessna 170, Beechcraft Musketeer, and Piper Vagabond. After serving and years after his retirement, he enjoyed carving wood to make model ships.

Joe will be deeply missed by his wife, Lorraine of Sturgeon Bay; two daughters, Nancy Bleier of Sacremento, CA, Judy Hess of Tuscon, AZ; son, Steve Peck of San Angelo, TX; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
