Maltby, Shirley A.

Shirley A. Maltby was born in Sturgeon Bay on June 2, 1939, to Raymond and Alice Sunstrom. She graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1959. She then attended Milwaukee Business School. She worked as a secretary in St. Paul, MN, for three years during which time she met her future husband (David). Shirley and David married at Central Baptist Church in St. Paul, MN, on April 13, 1963. The marriage was blessed with 2 children, Kim and Mike.

In 1968 the family moved to Door County, Wisconsin. Shirley worked various jobs while raising her family. Eventually she became the office manager for Action Electric, the company in which she and David were partners.

Shirley enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, riding her bike, volunteering at Sister Bay Baptist Church and Bargains, visiting people at Scand, as well as spending time with her family and friends. Shirley was very family- oriented. She took an active interest in the lives of her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed weekly coffee with her brothers, sister, nieces and nephews.

On Tuesday, August 5, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer, Shirley entered into the nearer presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, David; her daughter, Kim Picha and husband, Mike; her son, Mike and wife, Britt; her grandchildren, David, Max, Emma, Eliza and Marshall; her brothers, Willard (Bernice), Harold (Eleanor), and Russell (Carole) Sunstrom; nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty Hedeen and Olive Koyen; and niece, Jane Hedeen.
