Billy Roy Clemens, 68, of rural Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday evening, December 19, 2012 at Ministry Door County Medical Center.
He was born on February 20, 1944, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Roy and Victoria (Ott) Clemens. He lived with his parents, his sister, Connie, and his brothers, Ralph and Gary.
After attending Custer High School, he joined the Air Force and became an air policeman. Following his discharge from the military, he worked at a variety of different positions before his employment with Milwaukee Electric Tool in Brookfield. Bill worked there for 35 years as a machine operator. During his employment he took courses in math, blueprint reading, heat treatment, safety and statistical process control.
In 1967 he married Susan Hartman. He was a loving husband and father to their three children, John, Kim and Tammy.
Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman. For many years he enjoyed the opening of walleye fishing at Kangaroo Lake and in Canada. In addition, he took the children fishing, hunting, and swimming.
Following retirement, he moved from Allenton, WI to Door County where he drove for Witt Ford and belonged to the Lions Club. He enjoyed playing sheepshead and cribbage with friends and at Birmingham's. He also loved Packer and Badger Football along with participating in football pools.
Besides his family and friends, his greatest love was the enjoyment of a good meal. He not only enjoyed eating, he loved to cook. He had great expertise in grilling poultry ribs, steak and other food. Family and friends will miss his smile, his teasing and his barbecued chicken.
Billy leaves behind his wife, Sue of rural Sturgeon Bay; son, John Dentice of Cecil; daughters, Kim Dentice (and Dave Bartel) of Eagle River, WI, Tammy Clemens (friend, Dan and his daughter, Morgan Krause) of West Bend; sister, Connie Easker of Milwaukee; brother and best friend, Gary Clemens (Linda Clemens) of Jackson, WI; sister-in-law, Yvonne Clemens of Rothschild; mother-in-law, Dorothy Hartman of Sister Bay; brother-in-law, Tom Hartman (Carol Hartman) of Presque Isle, WI; many nephews and nieces, friends, and his beloved beagle, Nicki, who he referred to as his dog child.
He also leaves behind some very special friends, who greatly enhanced his life. Phil and Carol Cler, Frank and Lynn Ballendux, Gary and Lilah Haarsma, Brad Birmingham, Sally Henry, and Dan and Jodi Chaudoir.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Ralph Clemens; brother-in-law, Ray Easker; father-in-law, Thomas Hartman; daughter-in-law, Sue Dentice and friend Dennis Henry.
There will be a celebration of his life at a later date. Huehns Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
