Roy G. Casteel

Roy Glenn Casteel, age 72, Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, of Sturgeon Bay, died February 16, 2013, in his home. Roy was born on April 28, 1940, in San Diego, California, to Sam and Cora Casteel.

Roy was joined in marriage to Lynn (Jesslyn) Griffin in El Cajon, California on June 2, 1962. Roy served his country in the United States Marine Corps, retiring after twenty-two years of service, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. Roy worked at Peterson Builders Inc., Palmer Johnson and the United States Navy, all in Sturgeon Bay. Roy loved traveling, visiting family across the United States, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Roy is survived by his wife Lynn, of Sturgeon Bay; his daughter, Karen (David Schlise) Casteel-Schlise, of Shawano, Wisconsin; his son Robert (Debbie) Casteel of Green Bay, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Maria and Garret Schlise; Emma, Claire and Baby Casteel due February 20th; his sisters, Polly (John) Worsley, Fruita, Colorado; Ruth (Pat) Barrett, El Cajon, California; two brothers, Charles Casteel, San Diego, California and Russell Casteel, Fairfax, Virginia; special friend, Dee Gill. Roy is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Sam and David Casteel, three sisters Ella Heilman, Catherine Stevens, Martha Lindgreen, and his best friend, William (Bill) Tarver.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Nathan Lewis officiating. Family and friends may call at the church Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services. Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Bay.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mitchell Winkler, Mary Capelle and the wonderful staff at the Cancer Center at Door County Memorial Hospital. The family is also grateful to the staff of Unity Hospice for their invaluable support.
