Watkins, Lory E.

Lory E. Watkins passed away in Burien, Wash., on April 25, 2013, of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). He was born Oct. 6, 1941, in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., to Eldon and Audrie Watkins. Following graduation from Sturgeon Bay High School he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was trained as a transmitter repair technician and was based at Iraklion Air Force Station, Crete, Greece, and Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane. After four years in the USAF his career as a Broadcast Engineer took him to WOSU-TV, KREM-TV, KSPS-TV and the University of Washington. He was a Life Member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers. After his retirement from the University of Washington he returned to school and graduated from the University of Washington in 1998.

He had a life long passion for fly fishing and was a founding member of the Overlake Fly Fishing Club, Bellevue, Wash. He was a Life Member of the Federation of Fly Fishers.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Taylor Watkins, Burien, Wash.; his mother, Audrie Watkins, sister, Rita (Dave) Hunt, brother, Dean Watkins all of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; sister, Judy Palmer, Green Bay, Wis.; and sister, Myrna Herrbold, De Pere, Wis.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. at the Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash.
