Allen J. Baudhuin
Allen J. Baudhuin "Al the Barber", Neenah, 75, died on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Theda Clark Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on December 10, 1937, in Brussels, WI, son of the late John and Myrtle Baudhuin. He married Diane Bournoville on July 25, 1959, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, in Brussels.
Since 1963, Al was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah. He started barbering on Neenah's Doty Island in June of 1956 and retired in June of 1999. As the proud owner of Al's Barber Shop, he made many friends throughout his 43 years in business. Al was an avid fisherman who loved being outdoors. He enjoyed boating, camping, golfing, bowling, family road trips, playing cards and most of all, spending time with his family and grandchildren. He loved the Green Bay Packers and was a long-time season ticket holder. He was well known for his sense of humor and quick wit. In recent years he developed a passion for reading. Since his retirement, Al fought a challenging battle with Polymyositis, a debilitating disease that causes deterioration of the muscles. He endured his journey through illness without complaint. His faith, dignity, courage and sense of humor were apparent throughout his many years of declining health.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Diane Baudhuin with whom he has shared his life for the past 54 years; three sons: Scott (Teresa) Baudhuin, Kaukauna; Jeff (Lisa) Baudhuin, Cottage Grove; and Jay (Janine) Baudhuin, Mayville; grandchildren: Nicholas (fiancé Stephanie), Stephanie, Michael (Emily), Mason, Hayley, Megan, and Kaitlyn; a great grandson, Elwyn; his brother-in-law, Lee (Karen) Bournoville; a very special aunt, Bernice Meunier; and many nieces and nephews.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Almere (Lloyd) Gerondale; father- and mother-in-law: Harry and Rose Bournoville; and a sister-in-law: Shirley Bournoville.
The funeral liturgy for Al will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division St., Neenah, with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
