So sorry to hear about Bill. He was such a great friend to my father, Charles Vickrey, and also such a joy to see when our paths would infrequently cross. You all have my sincere symphathy.

I was saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Bill Cathell. He was a regional leader and guided the Souheast Alabama Regional Planning Commission for many years and providing many benefits for Southeast Alabama. He will be missed, and I extend my sympathy to his family.

Reading this in the Dothan Eagle brought back memories of working with Mr. Cathell when I was a Head Start Director in Opp and he was my "big boss" in Dothan. I admired him and respected his opinion in my professional life. My thoughts are with you. Sincerely, Flora Jacobs

To my beloved family down South,
Aunt Norma, Steve, Stan and Stafford.
My heart is with you during this time. I can't begin to tell you how much I loved Uncle Bill. He was my favorite. The times he came up to Virginia I couldn't wait to see him ( You to Aunt Norma ). I always wanted to be able to tell him what I was doing with work, sports, etc. I always wanted him to be proud of me. Obviously I was very proud of him. He always had a way of making you feel good and that he was indeed, proud of you. All of us he was. All of us cousins learned from you Uncle Bill. As I have said earlier, you were a true Southern Gentleman. A genuine charmer with a gracious smile. I remember you telling me when I was a young boy, that famous catch phrase used often down in Alabama....Roll Tide. You'll never know how much that phrase meant to me, way more than what is done on the football field. I love all of you and am proud to say it.
My heart and prayers, along with those from Mother are with you and your entire family now.

Mack and I are so very sorry to hear of your loss. Mack said he was just thinking of you last week and thrilled that Alabama had such a great season (except against the dawgs)! Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Bill was always a source of encouragement to me during our days at First Baptist. His love of God, family and his church was one of his many traits that endeared him to those he met. Our prayers are with your family during these days.
