Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Brendan will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

Dear Mr. Neenan and family,

I want to take this oppurtunity to offer my prayers and condolence for the loss of another brave soldier, your beloved son, Brendan Patrick Neenan. I saw your families picture on the internet this morning at Brendan's memorial service. The look on your face went straight to my heart. As a father I can think of no greater loss than that of one of my own children. Mr. Neenan you are not alone in this time of sorrow. In our parish of Saint Galls Catholic Churnch we have prayed openly for your son and your family. Although we never knew him he is a hero in our eyes giving his precious life for all of us. Here in Minden Nevada we honor our soldiers daily. The flag in front of my house flies daily. It reads "Support our Troops" it displays a yellow ribbon, the head of the bald eagle and it lists all the service branches. It flew for Brenden and now we will honor his name every Memorial Day as one of many heros who dedicated himself to the service of this great nation.

I know there are no words which can fill the void or relieve the pain. But for what it is worth I do not take my freedom lightly and I thank your son for his courage and bravery in fighting the good fight. I only wish I had the oppurtunity to know him.

Mr. Neenan and family may the Lord our God keep you strong and moving forward in life. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

God Bless You

Sincerely

Scott J. Shick and family Minden Nevada

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms SPC. Brendan Neenan. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Brendan. And to Brendan it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Brendan, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,353 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Brendan’s family and loved ones.

June 17, 2010

To the family of Hero Brendan Patrick Neenan, I write this with some knowledge of the surrealness and heavy hearts for the sacrifice your family has made for our country. My husband, USMC Sgt Maj (ret) David Tainsh and I experienced our own with the death of our son U.S. Army Cav Scout Sgt Patrick Tainsh in 2004. There are no appropriate words to express the heaviness in our own hearts for you as we know the journey well. But as long as we call their names, they are never dead. Brendan, thank you for giving your all. Say hello to our son Patrick there on "higher ground." "That which one does only for themselves will die with them. That which one does for others or their country is and remains immortal." May peace, strength, courage, and faith fill your journey always through our Creator. And know that a support system of other Gold Star families is here for you through www.taps.org

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I'm Stacy Clark's mom and I remember when you and Tim were taking piano lessons from Miss Bende. I was also and you guys were sooo good and I was sooo bad. You amazed me. I didn't go to your visitation or mass today, but I wanted to. It's just that I felt like being with you today was for people who deserved a place of honor and you might not even remember me. I think you've touched a lot of people in your young life. I know I am touched and honored to know you as briefly as I did. Thank you so much for your service to our Nation and the ultimate sacrifice you made.

To The Neenan Family,

We little knew that morning, that God
was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide;
and though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same;
but as GOD calls us one by one,
The Chain will link again.
