Ella Casey Obituary

Ms. Ella Louise Dansby Casey passed away early Monday morning, Dec. 29, 2008, at Flowers Hospital. She was 95.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Pastor Sarah Tomlin, the Revs. Kenneth Earles and Greg Doss officiating. Burial will follow in Elam Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec.31, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. at Fuqua­ Bankston Funeral Home.Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions to Ozark First Assembly of God.
Ms. Casey was born Dec. 8, 1913, to George Washington Dansby II and Ila Seay Dansby from Cuthbert, Ga. Her childhood was spent in Barbour County before moving to Ozark, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Ms. Casey was a devoted homemaker and loving wife, mother of six children, a grandmother and a sister. She was a great cook, seamstress, and avid gardener with beautiful roses being her specialty. Most of all, Ms. Casey loved Jesus and was a faithful Christian who fought a good fight and was ready to meet her Lord and Savior. Earlier, Ms. Casey had taught Sunday school and loved to sing the wonderful old hymns in church specials with her daughter, Cheryl.
Ms. Casey was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her children, Irma Dean Smith and husband, Tullie Roscoe of Crestview, Fla., Vivian DeCaro of Ozark; Betty LaPlant and husband, Larry of Roswell, N.M., Morris Casey and wife, Jackie of Montgomery, Gene Casey and wife, Sandra, of Ozark, and Cheryl Casey of Madison; one brother, George Earl Dansby of Hope Hull; two half-sisters, Evelyn Burke of Dothan and Virginia Cannon of Ozark; one half-brother, D.W. Dansby of Ariton; six grandsons, Kenneth Smith of Cheyenne, Wyo., James F. Payne of McCalla, Jeff and Tim Casey of Jackson, Miss.; David Casey of Daleville, and Keith Casey of Fla.; five granddaughters, Laura Galloway of Ozark, Melissa Fox of Dalhart, Texas, Kim Casey of Pelham,Melanie Eckard of Las Cruces, N.M., and Victoria Floyd, currently in Baumholder, Germany. Five great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews also survive.
