Lee Iverson Rice Lee Iverson Rice, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 82. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wallace Russell officiating. Burial will be held in Dothan City Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, AL, 36302. Mr. Rice was born October 26, 1929 in Dale County to Jesse and Luta Gibson Rice. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Korea. He was employed with Ward Wilson Funeral Home as a funeral director for many years. He was also employed by the Dothan Police Department where he retired at the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Rice is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Melrose Rice and a brother, James Rice. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Galloway and Rhonda Wyant (Mike), all of Dothan; two brothers, Joe Rice (Sara) and Frank Rice (Judy), all of Dothan; three sisters, Charlotte Stern (Les) of Pettus TX, Patsy Keane, of LaPorte, TX and Brenda Grizzle, of Dickenson, TX; three granddaughters, Crystal Hoffpauir (Morris) of Lafayette, LA, Catherine Massey (Jim) of Dothan and Erin Begonia (Jim) of Williamsburg, VA; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Westside Terrace for their loving care of Mr. Rice.
