Henry F. Carey II(1943 - 2018)

Henry F. Carey II, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Kent General Hospital with his wife at his side, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 74.

Mr. Carey was born June 21, 1943 in Dover, to the late Henry F. Carey Sr. and Agnes Elizabeth Black Carey.

He was raised in Leipsic and worked on the family farm. Mr. Carey owned and operated Old Mill Hardware across from Moore's Lake for several years. He also was co-owner of a sewer and water construction company until his death. Mr. Carey had a strong work ethic which took the place of any hobby.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Smalley, and sister, Janet Carey.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Charlotte Wagner Carey of Dover; daughters, Debbie Carey of Dover, Denise Carey Bryant of West Palm Beach, Fla., Janet Smith (Ralph) of Bear, and Jamie Basler (Steve) of Dover; step-children, Rachel Kent (Bill) and Joseph Shockley (Melanie) both of Milford; brother, John Carey (Louise) of Leipsic; sisters, Agnes Heather and Mary Moore, both of Leipsic; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be private.
