Ada Ruby Rubens Obituary
Ada Ruby Rubens Age 90, of Dover, DE passed away peacefully on April 6, 2016 at Foulk Manor North in Wilmington, DE. Ruby was born in Niagara Falls, NY and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1943.

Ruby married Reven A. Rubens in Sanborn, NY in 1944. Shortly after their marriage, he reenlisted in the U.S. Airforce. During his 30 year career they lived in Stuttgart, Arkansas; Biloxi, MS; Long Island, NY; Tampa and Orlando, FL; Sumter, SC; Las Vegas, NV; Bitburg, Germany; Oxon Hill, MD; Dover, DE and Goldsboro, NC. They returned to Dover to retire in 1970.

Ruby worked as a School Food Service worker and retired from Nellie Stokes Elementary School in Camden, DE in 1991.

Ruby enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, bowling, walking and traveling. She was a member of the Webfooters, a Dover walking club, and the American Volkssport Association, a national walking club. She completed 10k walks in all 50 states, several Canadian provinces, Mexico and England. Leading up to her 80th birthday, her three daughters accompanied Ruby in walking in the last four state walks, completing the 50th in Minnesota.

She enjoyed traveling and took advantage of that whenever she could. Her travels took her to Africa, England, Hungary, Austria, China, Germany and Mexico.

Ruby was predeceased by her husband, Reven; brother, Norman Barber; sister, Joyce Sirgey; sisters-in-law, Flora Lynn Erke and Sandra Scarfone and; brother-in-law, Keith Rubens.

Ruby is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Williams (Gerald), Karen Cusack (Roy Williams) and Diana Rubens (Kim Beale); grandchildren Christopher Cusack (Elizabeth), Timothy Cusack (Carolyn), Laura Benthale (John), Alison Rezai (Kameron)and Eileen Douglas (Christopher); Ten great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jennifer Cusack, Justin, Julia and Jessica Cusack, Cole and Bryce Benthale, Benjamin and Paige Rezai and Vance Douglass. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, June Hirschman and Maureen Magliazzo.

A Memorial Service was held at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike at 11 am on Saturday April 9. Burial was private.
