Andrew E. Gillen Jr. Obituary
Andrew E. Gillen Jr., of Dover, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017. He was 73.

Mr. Gillen was born Sept. 24, 1943 in Wilmington, to the late Andrew E. Gillen Sr. and Helen Rothwell Gillen.

Mr. Gillen served in the United States Army. He worked for the U.S. Department of Defense as an equipment operator for 20 years, retiring in 2003, and was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge and the Diamond State Beagle Club. Mr. Gillen enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing and was an avid Notre Dame football fan. He spent his winters in Fort Myers Fla. with his wife.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Gillen.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Katherine Gillen of Dover; son, Michael and daughter-in-law Kim Gillen of Camden; grandchildren, Gavin and Madeline Gillen both of Camden; brother, William Gillen (Barbara) of Wilmington; nieces, Debbie Williams of Gibbstown, N.J. and Megan Armstrong of Wilmington; and his mother-in-law, Marian Culver.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call Monday evening from 6 to 8. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Robbins Hose Company, 103 S. Governor's Ave, Dover, DE 19904.
