Beulah Alice Carr Cummins Obituary
Beulah Alice Carr Cummins, of Dover age 100 ½, passed away to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2014. Her family was by her side.

Born in Hidalgo, Illinois on March 16, 1914 to the late John and Emma Carr, she was one of five brothers and sisters. Raised on a farm in Illinois, she eventually met George Harold "Jack" Cummins and they were married October 12, 1935. Together they raised their family in Rose Hill, Chicago and Downers Grove, Illinois.

Beulah loved gardening and loved bringing fresh cut flowers into the house. She also enjoyed painting with oil paints and painted landscapes of beloved places she remembered from her youth. She was a devout Christian and active member of First United Methodist Church in Downers Grove, IL for 26 years until her husband's death in 1985. Beulah moved to Dover, DE in 1986 to live with her oldest daughter, Sally, son in law Dave and granddaughter, Sandhya Verma.

While living in Dover, Beulah became an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church participating in Sunday School and the United Methodist Women. She also continued her love of gardening at home in Dover and in the community as a member of the Sprig and Twig Garden Club. Beulah also supported her granddaughter by becoming a Dover High Band booster and attended concerts and events for the band. She loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed taking trips to visit her daughter Becky and her family in Cedar Rapids, IA and many family members in Illinois. She loved traveling the country with daughter Sally and son in law Dave as well. Her family loved to hear her recall the stories of the "old days" growing up on the farm, her quick wit, singing hymns, childhood songs and songs from WWI. Everyone she met was blessed by her welcoming spirit. She was particularly proud of writing her life story down for her family in 1971. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Beulah was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, George Harold "Jack" Cummins, brother Clarence Carr, sisters Ruth Marrs, Clella Hadley and Edna Thomas.

She is survived by her brother Fred Carr (Lela) of Hidalgo, IL, daughter Sally (Dave) of Dover, DE, daughter Becky (Ed) of Cedar Rapids, IA, four grandchildren, Sandhya Higgins (Matthew) of Dover, DE, Jennifer Miller (Jim) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Sarah Rochleau ( Joel) of Hiawatha, IA and Jonathan Holstrom ( Erin) of Des Moines, IA.
