David William Cook Obituary
MSGT. Ret. David William Cook, Dover, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 11, 2015.

David was born February 4, 1947 in Brockton, MA. the oldest son of Robert C. and Marie A. Cook. Growing up in a Navy family Dave traveled with his parents and two brothers with the family settling in Newport, RI. Dave graduated from De La Salle Academy in Newport, RI where he met his wife Elaine Evans. Dave went on to earn an Associate's degree from Rollins College in Florida.

After joining the Air Force he was stationed in Massachusetts, Hawaii, Kansas, Virginia, Florida, and Germany in 1984 finally retiring in Dover, DE. He continued his extensive traveling throughout the United States covering all 50 states with his beautiful wife Elaine. Dave proudly served his country in the USAF for 21 years as a Map Choreographer and a Purchasing Agent which carried over into civilian capacity for 10 years.

As a child he was a member of the American Bowling Congress, obtaining many awards for his outstanding bowling in both his military and civilian life. Dave was an active member of the Professional Bowling Association in the 70's. He bowled with his brother and military friends in Las Vegas at the Military Retiree Tournament every year. After retirement he joined Jonathan's Golf course where he added three hole-in-one awards to his list of accomplishments.

David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elaine Evans Cook formerly of Newport, RI, his parents, Robert and Marie Cook, living at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford, DE. Dave leaves behind three children; Robert M. and wife Wanda M. of New Castle, DE, Deborah A. and husband Duane D. Lawler of Glenville, PA and Senior Chief John E. and wife Tina L. of Chesapeake, VA.; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Rachel and Lillian Cook, Cory and Dylan Lawler, Kerstin Taylor, Cameron and Christian Cook as well as three great grandchildren; brothers Paul R. and wife Gail of Matthews, NC and Bruce E. of Georgetown, TX. David will be sadly missed by his morning walking ladies Barbara and Lori.

Friends may call from 4-8PM, Wednesday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon road (Rt.10), Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 12:30PM, Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover.

Interment will be 2PM, Friday, September 18, 2015 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 DuPont Boulevard, Millsboro, DE 19966.
