Surely the gates of heaven must have opened wide for the soul and spirit of Doris Joyeusaz, whose passing on Memorial Day, 2014 left a gaping hole in the hearts of her family and myriad of friends. After a long and fierce battle with breast cancer, she peacefully departed for the next world, free from pain and suffering.

Born in Newark DE, Doris was the daughter of Jennie May Tweed Bell Alexander, Harry Bell, and stepfather, John Willard Alexander.

She was proud to be a descendant of Charles Springer, a founder of Old Swedes' Church.

Left behind are her loving husband of 67 years, Richard; her daughter Dr. Renee Young and husband, David; grandchildren, Dr. Geoffrey Young and Brooke Young Stout; three beloved great granddaughters, Avery, Lily, and Georgia May Stout.

Doris was employed by the State of Delaware for most of her professional life and retired to a life of travel and enjoying her many interests including her cottage and friends in Fenwick Island. Doris was a loyal member of Christ Episcopal Church in Dover for 60 years.

A celebration of Doris' life will be held on June 29 at 12:30 at Maple Dale Country Club in Dover. Her burial was private. Donations to honor her life may be made to the or a .
