Francis S. Coyle III Obituary
Dover - Frank Coyle died on Monday, Oct. 19, 2015. He was 81. Mr. Coyle was born in Orange, New Jersey on March 24, 1934, son of the late Francis S. Coyle Jr. and Aileen MacCormack Coyle.

He graduated from Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception, High School Department, Brooklyn, N.Y. He earned bachelor's degrees in economics and meteorology from Brooklyn College and Pennsylvania State University, respectively; master's degrees in business administration and public administration from Southern Illinois University and the University of Southern California, respectively; and completed all but his dissertation toward a doctorate in public administration from the University of Southern California.

Mr. Coyle served as a United States Air Force officer from 1955-1976, as a navigator and meteorologist. His assignments included Texas, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maine, Korea, New York, and England. His awards included the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, and the Republic of Viet Nam Gallantry Cross.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, he served the State of Delaware from 1977-1998. He held positions in Central Data Processing, the Department of Correction, the Budget Office, and the Division of Accounting in the Department of Finance. Perhaps he is best known for his association with the Delaware Financial Management System.

Mr. Coyle was a member of Holy Cross Church in Dover, where he served on the Finance Committee, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at Dover Air Force Base, where he directed the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults program. He was a founding member of Saint Thomas More Academy in Magnolia.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Coyle was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Mary, and two sisters: Sister Mary Berchmans Coyle and Colleen Coyle McDonald. He is survived by 4 sons: Kevin (Laureen), John (Karen), Christopher (Elizabeth), and Timothy (Kristin); two daughters, Kathleen and Maureen; 14 grandchildren: Derek, Andrea, Brendan, Sean, Matthew, Christopher, Jason, Lily, Dylan, Owen, Jacob, Max, Grace, and Maura; and a sister, Judee, of Orlando, Fla.

Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Holy Cross School or St. Thomas More Academy. Letters of condolence may be sent to www.traderfh.com.
