Harry Bowman Britt Obituary
On July 14, 2015 beloved husband, father and grandfather Harry Bowman Britt passed away at the Delaware Veteran's Home in Milford surrounded by his family. He was 84 years old.

Mr. Britt was born December 26, 1930 in Lumberton, NC to the late James R. Britt and Ila Johnson Britt, where he graduated from Bladenboro Public School in Bladenboro, NC and then from the National School of Commerce in Charlotte, NC.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. Mr. Britt worked at Dover Air Force Base Civil Service as a deputy accounting and finance officer for 32 years. He then worked at NCALL Research as a self-help housing specialist from 1987-1993.

Mr. Britt enjoyed gardening, fishing and working on cars, and also loved to go to his grandson's sports games.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dover for nearly 60 years and served as financial secretary, treasurer and chairman of the memorial foundation. He was also a member of the Gideon's International where he served as treasurer for many years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, James, William and Paul Britt.

Mr. Britt is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Harper Britt; daughter, Lisa Dunlap and her husband Shane of Cary, NC; son, Scott Britt and his wife Laura of Downingtown, PA; grandsons, Andrew and Chad Britt; sister, Nettie Sue Rainey of Darlington, SC, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11AM, Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover.

Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, 558 N. State Street, Dover.

The family would like to thank the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford for providing such great care and compassion during his stay and treating their residents with dignity and respect.
