Jeanette B. Slaughter Obituary
Jeannette B. Slaughter (Brown), 84, from Wilmington, passed away October 7 after suffering with Lewy Body Dementia.

She was surrounded by her family. Jeannette was born December 24, 1930 over a barber shop in Philadelphia, PA to Charles P. and Laura E. (Landenberger) Brown. In 1948 she graduated from Smyrna High School where she was a cheerleader and played softball, basketball, and field hockey. Jeannette retired in 2003 after 49 years of service for the City of Wilmington.

She was proud of growing and canning her own vegetables. As a member of the Elsmere Roller Rink, her and her partners received many trophies for dance competitions. She was a member of the American Trapshooting Association and received many awards.

She also enjoyed crocheting and attending the outside music events at Battery Park in New Castle and at The Riverfront in Wilmington. Jeannette is survived by daughter Sherry Jacobs (Donald), her sister Charlotte Mitchell and brothers Donald T. (Barbara) and Russell J. (Barbara) Brown, grandchildren Robert Crowley, Sherry Vickery (William), Anthony "AJ" Jacobs, Brian Jacobs (Patricia), great grandchildren Lauren, Carter, Hunter, Todd, Lexi, and Valerie, great great grandchildren Madisyn and Kylee, and her longtime companion Ted Manelski. Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Katherine Brown and Beverly Matthews, brother Charles A. Brown, and granddaughter Michele Jacobs.

Visitation and services will be private per Jeannette's request. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, 333 N. Summit Street, Toledo, OH 43604.
