Pastor John McDonald, of Dover, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 20, 2014. He was 77.

He was born, March 28,1937, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, to the late- John & Lucy(Barnes) McDonald. Pastor McDonald has been serving the Lord for over 38 years, in various churches throughout Massachusetts, Ohio, and Delaware; and a member of the American Baptist Churches of America. He is a graduate of Nyack College, Gordon-Conwell Seminary, and Wright State University. In his free time, John enjoyed gardening, woodworking/building, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Gordon McDonald.

Pastor John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia (Ferguson) McDonald; 2 daughters, Sharon Lyons & her husband Robert, of Berea, Ohio; and Allison DiCenzi & her husband, Gary, of Middleburg Heights, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Crystal McDonald, of Woodside; a sister, Bernice McDonald, of Hamilton, Ontario; 8 grandchildren, Alex McDonald, & wife Kristy, of Summerville, SC; Andy McDonald & wife, Stephanie, of Wyoming; Amanda McDonald, of Felton; Cori (Lyons) Worth, & husband, Kevin, of Vancouver, British Columbia; Benjamin Lyons, of Columbus, Ohio; Emily and Nathan Uhlik, of North Olmstead, Ohio; and Genevieve Herbst, of Middleburg Heights, Ohio. 3 great-grandchildren, Mayson & Morgan McDonald, of Wyoming, & Russell Worth, of Vancouver, British Columbia; and several nieces & nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held 7 pm, Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in Pippin Funeral Home,Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may gather from 5 to 7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Baptist Ministers & Missionaries Fund at First Baptist Church , 301 Walker Rd., Dover, DE 19904 or to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
