Karen Whiteman Obituary
Karen Whiteman passed away peacefully, Thursday March 24, 2016 after a heroic battle with a rare and aggressive cancer. She was 70.
Karen was born in Medford, Massachusetts. She lived and attended school in Germany for two years with her family as her father served in the United States Army. She graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School in Moyland, Pa.
Karen worked in the business and education sectors for over 50 years. When she retired, Karen was the administrative secretary to the principal at Postlethwait Middle School.
Karen had a brilliant mind and dry wit. She was kind, giving, and totally devoted to her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Frank M. and Ruth B. Marabella, both originally from Massachusetts.
Karen is survived by her son, Harry Whiteman, his wife Lisa, and their son Nicolas of Dover; three sisters: Mary Maguire and her fiancée Dave Marge of Newark; Bobbie Beck of Middletown; Sandra Wagener, and her husband Rick, of Floyd, Va.; and many nieces, nephews, and lifetime friends.
A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held Thursday March 31, 2016 at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2341 Frazer Rd. Newark, DE. Visitation will begin 10:30 a.m., followed by the mass at 11 a.m.
