Kathleen Joan Goodman Obituary
Kathleen Joan Goodman, of Dover, Delaware, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014; five days before her 83rd birthday.
Compassionate, caring and generous, "Kay" will be remembered for her fabulous smile and infectious, joyous laughter.

For 20 years, as an Air Force wife and homemaker, she toured the United States (with the exception of a 2 ½ Goose Bay, Labrador stay) with her family. As a widow, she attended community college and continued on to a twenty-five year professional career in the banking industry and also with the state of Delaware.

After retirement, she participated for many years as a volunteer for the Foster Grandparents program at East Dover Elementary School.

Her greatest loves were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and, of course, music. Back in the 1980s, the shy but fun-loving and mischievous Kay, formed a musical group, known as the Rusty Bed Springs, with her friends. Dancing up and down the aisles in costumes and sitting on laps of total strangers while playing the ukulele and singing the old classic standards like "Second-Hand Rose" - she had the time of her life every time she performed!

Known affectionately as "Kay" by her husband and friends, "Kate" by her brother and sisters, "Aunt Katie" by her nieces and nephews, "GG" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and Mom by her two daughters; she will be remembered and cherished by all of us. We loved her very much.

Her husband Edward B. Goodman, son Stephen E. Goodman, sisters Priscilla Nixon and Margaret Leatherwood and parents Donald and Maud LaFlame preceded Kay in death.

She is survived by her daughter Lorraine J. Dion and son-in-law Russell Dion, her daughter Kathleen A. Williams, her brother Donald LaFlame and sister-in-law Barbara, her sister Carol Conklin, her brother-in-law David Nixon, her sister-in-law Helen Neary, her sister-in-law Carol Goodman, her daughter-in-law Linda Goodman, her grandchildren Jennifer Gillespie and husband Chris, Kristin Seeney and husband Jesse, Melody Elgesem and husband Rob and Dan Goodman, five great-grandchildren, and many great nieces and nephews and friends – especially good friends Linda and Mike Georgules, Many thanks to Margaret Aro, CNA and Ashley Hoffman, RN, for taking such good care of our Mother. She was a good woman.

Memorial service will be held Oct. 25, 2014 from 1-4 p.m. at the Dover Elks Lodge #1903, 200 Saulsbury Rd., Dover, DE. Contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE 19901.
