Lis (Petersen) Bender Obituary
Lis Petersen Bender, of Dagsboro, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, March 27, 2016.
Lis was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1942. She met her husband, Clayton E. Bender, in Germany in 1959 and moved with him to Japan and then settled in the U.S. She became a naturalized citizen in 1997.

She co-owned the Hobbi Inn located in Smyrna and Marydel. She was an artist, sculptor, master gardener, creative decorator and a very outgoing person. She loved life and adventures. Her infectious smile, mischievous antics and easygoing manner will be missed greatly by her family and friends. She will forever be a part of our lives.

She was predeceased by her grandmother Julia Petersen, who raised her, her mother, Henny Petersen Reseke, father Karl Hunke, and husband Clayton E. Bender.

She is survived by her three children, Melody P. Bender (John Forbes) of Dover; John T. Bender and his wife Liberty of Westminster, Md; and Russel M. Bender (Cindy Martin) of Marydel; four grandchildren, Stacy Ramsburg (Chase), Jonathan Bender, Bryan Bender, & Tanner Bender; her sister & brother-in-law Marianne & Henrich Wulff, and brother Jesper Reseke, of Denmark.

Services will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Lis' name to the .
