Mortimer Seeney Obituary
Mortimer Seeney of Dover passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at home. He was 77.

Mortimer was born December 10, 1937 in Dover, Delaware to the late Mason F. Seeney, Sr. and Lydia A. Hughes Seeney.

He retired from Kent General Hospital after 45 years of dedicated service, during which time he only missed a handful of sick days. Mortimer often volunteered to stay over during inclement weather to provide adequate coverage. He was well liked and well known by all, especially for his famous fruitcakes, which he made and passed out to friends and family during the holiday season. His greatest joys were gardening, cooking, and trying new recipes and the company of others. He especially enjoyed spending time with his numerous nieces and nephews and following their academic success and careers. Mortimer was a member of the Nanticoke Tribe of Delaware and a regular donor to the tribe, the Ronald McDonald House, Special Olympics and the Cheswold Fire Company. His giving spirit will be missed by all.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Leona and Martha Seeney, brothers, Perry S. and Mason F. Seeney, Jr., niece, Colleen E. Winchester.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Gonzalez; brother, Walton H. Seeney and his wife Rubie; and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him very much.

Funeral services will be held 2PM, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1901 Rockland Road, Wilmington, Delaware 19803 or Special Olympics of Delaware, University of Delaware 619 S. College Ave Newark, DE 19716 or the Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 186, Cheswold, DE 19936.
