Ruby Jane "Janie" (Senft) Schrum Obituary
Ruby Jane "Janie" (Senft) Schrum, 94, passed away quietly in her sleep on Sunday, September 13, 2015 with family by her side at Kent General Hospital, Dover, DE. She had been a resident of Cadia Delaware Rehab in Dover since April 2014, after moving from York, PA and Spring Grove PA where she was an 80 year resident.

Janie enjoyed a long and enjoyable life with travels around the world, and a close and loving family. The joy of her life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a gifted seamstress, enjoyed counted cross stitch and crocheting.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Harry P. Schrum in 2000, her parents, Hezekiah Clayton and Mabel (Freed) Senft, and her sister, Marguerite Senft Hinkle.

Janie is survived by her two children, David M. Schrum (Sara) and Susan (Schrum) Hoecker (George F. III); four grandchildren, Matthew J. Schrum (Mary), Amy (Schrum) McKee (Duncan), Jane Ann (Hoecker) Jelesiewicz (Joseph LaFountain), and George F. (Fred) Hoecker IV (Erica); and nine great-grandchildren, Sam, Emily, Jacob, Ethan, Harry, Seth, Logan, Annika and Joshua, and several nieces and nephews.

Janie was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, PA, being the oldest surviving member and taught Sunday School there for 30 years. She graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1938 and took courses at York College and Penn State (York), a retired PA licensed insurance agent and broker, who along with Harry operated Schrum Insurance Agency for 24 years. She was a member of Spring Grove Women's Club, life member of Spring Grove Area Historic Preservation Society, member West Manchester Mall Walkers and York Christian Woman.

A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015, 11:00 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 S Main Street, Spring Grove, PA 17362 with Rev. Daniel V. Biles III officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service next to her husband at Spring Grove Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 10-11 am in the church parlor. Family services are under the direction of Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc. of Spring Grove.
