Susan (Brown) Buckley Obituary
Mrs. Susan Jane (Brown) Buckley passed away on April 8, 2016 at Kent General Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born January 19, 1931 to the former William Reily and Mattie Walls Brown of Wyoming. She was the widow of Richard John Buckley.

Mrs. Buckley graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in Camden-Wyoming, DE in 1948. She graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelor's degree in 1952. After the death of her husband in 1976 she continued her education and received a masters degree from Salisbury State College.

Mrs. Buckley was a life-long member of the Wyoming United Methodist Church and was a former Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She most recently was a member of Three Stones Church in Wyoming.

Mrs. Buckley taught school for more than 30 years. She taught Physical Education, coached hockey, basketball, and softball in Milford High School before moving to Newark Junior High. She then returned to Caesar Rodney High, where she was a guidance counselor until she retired in 1991. She was selected Secondary Counselor of the Year in 1989 by Delaware State Counselors Association. After retiring, she counseled in the night program of James Grove High School and used her time volunteering with several groups. She taught adult reading in the MARK program, volunteered at Kent General Hospital, as well as the Delaware Agriculture Museum.

Mrs. Buckley enjoyed attending performances at the DuPont Theater in Wilmington and was an avid University of Delaware football fan.

In addition to Mrs. Buckley's parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, William Reily Brown Jr., Frederic Walls Brown, and Mary Ann Brown, all from Wyoming. She leaves behind two sons, a daughter and their families. They are a son, Richard John Buckley, and his daughter Alex; a son, Matthew Reily Buckley, and his wife Billie Jo; a daughter, Melanie Shade, and her husband Benjamin and their children, Noah, Evan and Lizzie.

A visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Bayhealth Foundation, 640 South State St. Dover, DE 19901.
