William C. "Bill" Petty Jr. Obituary
William C. "Bill" Petty, Jr. of Dover, Delaware passed away on December 28, 2015. He was 67 years old. Bill was born on June 18, 1948, in Furth, Germany to the late Marie and William C. Petty, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Karin.

Bill attended Caesar Rodney High School, graduating with the Class of 1968. He loved sports and participated in baseball, football, and track and field while at CR. At the age of 20, on his birthday, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy, beginning his career as an electrician. He was also a member of the Naval Fire Brigade. He served during the Vietnam Conflict and was assigned to several ships during his tenure, most notably the USS Okinawa, and USS Coronado. In 1970 he was initiated as a Shellback in the time honored Line Crossing Ceremony.

After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Bill worked for Reichhold Chemicals until his retirement. Beyond high school he continued his love for sports, playing softball, and watching the Phillies and Eagles. He enjoyed listening to oldies music, playing shuffleboard, fishing, working in his garden, cooking, and searching for new recipes. Bill was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge. Above all he cherished time spent with family and friends.

Bill leaves behind his loving wife, Betty; three children, Vickie (Raymond), Maria (Rich), and Erik (Michelle); step children, JoAnn (Robert), and Duane (Elaine); goddaughter, Nikki; grandchildren, Bubbie, Gabrielle, Felicia, and Victoria; step grandchildren, Saraphien, Erin, Crystal, and Thomas; step great granddaughter, Raelynn; sister, Anita; nieces, Michelle, Amanda, and Jess; nephew, Robbie; and faithful companion, "Fetch".

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, January 4, 2016, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, DE 19934. Friends may call two hours prior. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's honor can be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, online via www.delawarehospice.org.
