William E. Pierce Jr. Obituary
William Edwin Pierce Jr., 82 of Clayton, DE died on Christmas Eve at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE very peacefully with loved ones present.

Bill was born on December 6, 1932 at his parent's home in Arden, DE to Mildred Cannon Pierce and W. "Eddie" Pierce. He attended the Arden School and Richardson Park School until moving to Clayton, DE at age 11 when his parents purchased the 60-acre farm which remained Bill's home until his passing.

After attending school in Smyrna, Bill was eager to earn a living. Working at Latex "now know as Playtex"and Tyler Refridgeration in his early years, he had a keen business sense and a strong desire to be an entrepreneur. In 1969, Bill established Pierce Fence Company on North Dupont Highway in Dover that continues to be owned and operated by the Pierce family. Following retirement in 1990, Bill led an active life by building a few homes himself, tending to his vegetable gardens, tobacco plants and chickens, rolling dice at the craps tables at Dover Downs and most importantly, embracing every available moment with his family and his very dear friends.

Bill's wisdom, affinity for facts and figures, unrivaled sense of humor, and ability to laugh and perform practical jokes until the very end will leave him missed by so many. His gift of priceless memories, however, will always remain.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty DiAngelo and his eldest son, William E. Pierce III.

Bill is survived by two sons, Robert Pierce of Clayton, DE, Bruce Pierce of Millington, MD, two daughters, Lori Manning of Sudlersville, MD, Ursula Gardener of Seaford, DE in addition to a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 from 1pm to 2pm at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home 370 Cypress St. Millington, MD. Services will begin at 2pm. Interment will follow services in Sudlersville cemetery in Sudlersville, MD.
