Cliff Meyer Obituary

Clifford Eugene Meyer was born on Aug. 1, 1935, in Grand Coulee, Wash., to George and Rosa Meyer, where his father worked on Grand Coulee Dam. They moved to Loon Lake in January 1938.
Cliff passed away unexpectedly on June 24, 2016, from complications following surgery.
He attended grade school at Loon Lake and graduated from Deer Park High School in 1953. He joined the SeaBee Reserves during high school, serving for four years.
In 1970 he married Karen Renner of Clayton and they provided a home for many children through the years.
Cliff was a longtime dairy farmer, crop farmer and tree farm logger. He was a volunteer fireman for Stevens County District No. 1 at the Loon Lake station from 1960, when the station was started to 2009, a total of 48 years. He was 74 years old when he retired.
He was a member and active volunteer for the Clayton Community Fair. He not only loved working with the antique machinery and tools, but enjoyed teaching others about them as well.
He was also a member of the Clayton Grange, Loon Lake Historical Society and Loon Lake Loon Association.
Cliff was preceded in death by his father, George; his mother, Rosa; and younger brother Don.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen Meyer; a son Ross Newman and his wife Theresa; a granddaughter, Amanda; a grandson, Isaac and his wife Bethany, and a great-granddaughter, Kaesyn, all of Louisiana; a son, Fred Brown and his wife Kathy of Loon Lake; a granddaughter, Melissa and her husband Jared Pyeatt; a great-grandson, Matthew, of Deer Park; a granddaughter Kristin; and a great-grandson, Kaiden of Loon Lake.
Additional survivors include Ray Jensen and wife Shelly, granddaughter Jennifer, husband Nick Kincaid, great-grandsons, Dakota and Max; grandson Derek Jensen, grandson Ethan Jensen, great-grandson Brayden of Montana.
He is also survived by his sister, Marilyn Reilly of Deer Park; a sister-in-law, Verla Meyer of Deer Park; a brother-in-law, Robert Renner of Loon Lake; plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
Written memories for the family would be greatly appreciated.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Clayton Community Church, Clayton, with Pastor Tony Goodner officiating.
Donations may be sent to the Clayton Community Fair, P.O. Box 449, Clayton, WA 99110 or the Loon Lake Historical Society, P.O. Box 26, Loon Lake, WA 99148.
Heaven gained a special, wonderful person.

Thinking of your loss

One of my favorite fellows. I bought hay from Cliff for so many years and always enjoyed visiting with him. So surprised to hear of his passing. Sending prayers for Karen and the family. I know how much he will be missed.
