Docia Wilkerson — a young woman, resident of Durant, Oklahoma, and precious family member — left this life too soon on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at the young age of 13 years, three months and seven days. She was born to Wendy Manners and Christopher Wilkerson in Durant on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001.
Docia was a member of the Grayson Baptist Church. She attended the Durant Intermediate School. Docia enjoyed being outside playing basketball and softball. She often could be found with her Kindel or on the computer. Docia loved her family and friends, and enjoyed spending time with them.
Docia is survived by her mother, Wendy Manners, and her husband Brent of Durant, Oklahoma; father, Chris Wilkerson, and wife Alisha Herd of Durant, Oklahoma; brothers, Christopher Wilkerson of Durant, Oklahoma and Nichlas (Nick) Manners of Durant, Oklahoma; grandparents, David and Nila Bledsoe of Durant, Oklahoma, Virgil and Judy Manners of Durant, Oklahoma, and Gina and Hammer Wilkerson.
Docia was preceded in death by her grandmother, LaFonda Wilkerson; and great-grandmothers, Uneunis Wilkerson, Jean Drennan and Sophia May Yoder.
A gathering of family and friends will be 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A graveside service in honor of her memory will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Mead Cemetery in Mead, Oklahoma, with Rev. Roy Webster and Bro. Greg Rastyne officiating. The pallbearers will be Tony Burns, J.D. Richardson, Steve Manners, James Pettit, James Wilkerson and PePe Jaafari.
