Donald Lester

Donald W. Lester, a servant of our Lord Jesus Christ, passed from this earthly life in Denison, Texas on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the age of 82 years 9 months and 1 day. He was born to John E. and Ora Lee (Hatcher) Lester in Hillsboro, Texas on Friday, August 21, 1931. Donald married the love of his life, Ola Faye Lewis in Durant, Oklahoma on Tuesday, July 1, 1952.

Donald was a respected businessman in Durant where he made his home and was the owner/operator of the Durant Marble and Granite Works. He was a dedicated member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He served his community, state, and country as a member of the National Guard 45th Division 180th HVY Tank Company. Donald always enjoyed being outside fishing, camping, hunting or working in his garden. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Mr. Lester is survived by his daughters, Donna Smith and husband Mike of Durant, Oklahoma and Tina Schmidt and husband Curt of Stillwater, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Heather Adams and husband Dustin of Weatherford, Texas, Ashley Vance and husband Greg of Norman, Oklahoma, Caylie Schmidt of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Corbin Schmidt of Stillwater, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Dominic Adams, Presley Adams, Marlie Vance and Gracyn Vance; brothers, Jerry Lester of Durant, Oklahoma and Tom Lester of Tempe, Arizona; sister, Gwen Hawkins of Durant, Oklahoma.

Mr. Lester was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ora Lee Lester; wife, Ola Faye Lester.

Family Hour will be from 5-6:00 PM Sunday, May 25, 2014 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 26, 2014 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Darel Bunch officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Dustin Adams, Greg Vance, Corbin Schmidt, Ray Tubbs, Randy Lester and James Granger. The honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Adult II Sunday School Class.
