Travis Justus

Travis C. Justus was born August 15, 1923 in Coleman, Oklahoma to Earnest Henry and Lara Mamie (Newton) Justus and passed from this life on September 11, 2013 at his home at the age of 90.

Travis proudly served his country in the United States Army in World War II from 1943-1944 until his honorable discharge. Travis married Erma Dean Atkerson on September 18, 1948 in Florence, Arizona. Travis and Erma moved to Bryan County in 1989 from Casa Grande, Arizona. After his retirement as a heavy equipment operator he enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. Travis was of the Assembly of God Faith.

Travis was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Lara Justus; sister, Merrita Brumley and brothers, David and Everett Justus.

Travis is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 65 years, Erma Dean Justus of the home; sons, Cecil R. Justus and wife Celesta of Calera and Steve Justus and wife Dalene of Azle, TX; sister, Leaveta Treas and husband Glen of Wapanucka; brothers, Dward Justus and wife Helen of Lane, Herman Justus of Denton, TX, Elgin Justus and wife Lois of Atoka, Theryn Justus and wife Pat of Lane and Hershel Justus and wife Jewel of Atoka; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and many extended family and dear friends.

Services to celebrate Travis's life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 13, 2013 at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel. Bro. Ronald Brannon will officiate. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Richard Justus, Heath Justus, Brandon Justus, Monty Birdsong, Glen Todd and Travis Oglesby serving as pallbearers.
