Boyd G. Lilley passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at the age of 89 years and 3 months. He was born on September 13, 1924 in Durant, Oklahoma to Carl C. and Delila Elizabeth (Jackson) Lilley. Boyd married the love of his life Florence Janice Echols on December 21, 1948. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2008. They were married 59 years and 6 months.

Boyd served as a Staff Sergeant in The United States Army with Company H, 19th Infantry Regiment under General Douglas MacArthur during the Philippine Liberation. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, the Army Occupation Ribbon (Japan) with 3 Overseas Service Bars, and the Distinguished Unit Badge. After receiving his Honorable Discharge, he began working at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He began as a lineman, and retired in 1986 after 39 years as a crossbar switchman.

Boyd was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, brotherhood and deacon. He loved his church and his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Gaylene Lilley Kelley and husband Milton of Spring, Texas, and son, Floyd Ray Lilley of Spring, Texas; grandchildren, Sean Kelley and wife, Jonna of Indianapolis, Indiana, Tamara Griepp and husband, Timothy of Spring, Texas, Jordan Kelley Purvis, and husband, Andrew of Spring, Texas, and Zach Lilley and wife, Sara of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Deirdre, Reagan, Alana, and Vivian Kelley of Indianapolis, Indiana, Julianna and Elijah Griepp of Spring, Texas, Cameron, Kendall, and Connor Lilley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three sister-in-laws, Mrs. Dorothy Lilley of Lubbock, Texas, Mrs. Arzella Lilley of Garland, Texas, and Mrs. Betty Echols of Wylie, Texas and thirty-six nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, parents, Carl and Delila Lilley, brothers Durwood, Maurice, Hubert, Gene, Barnett, Gerald, and sister Vela Adams.

Family hour will be 6-7:00 pm Sunday evening, December 22, 2013 at the Holmes-Coffey- Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. The funeral service will be held, Monday, December 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. Internment will follow at the Highland Cemetery. Mr. Lilley will be receiving full Military Honors and honors by the Patriot Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be Pat Phelps, Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church and retired employees of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
